Hey guys.Hope all is well with you.

These past 2 weeks I’ve been buried in books trying to get ready for exams.Just did a murderous CAT the other day…And I mean murderous. But hey,on Saturday I went for Subaru Festival with my better half and his friend to get lost in the fun and to revel in the sights and sounds in the sea of Subarus. It was basically a day for Subaru owners and lovers to come together to compete and have a good time. There were prizes for best body work, best engine, best sound, fastest time, best spoiler, best lights, best interior and best classic Subaru.

I wore a denim shirt, letter printed leggings and golden flats.Of course, this chain I recently got goes with everything!

Hello there 🙂

This past week was cultural week in our campus and there was an outfit theme for everyday .Tuesday’s theme was colour blocking and this is what I wore ; An orange retro blazer(shoulder pads and all) ,blue and white floral print top, blue denim and orange heels. And guess what? I WON THE COLOUR-BLOCKING CHALLENGE AMONG GIRLS…Out of the many that did colour-blocking.Well,I tied with someone else but it’s still a fete. Was soo excited.I won a ticket to the pageant which was yesterday, where guys and gals were competing for Mr. and Miss Parklands(Our campus). Unfortunately I was not able to go. On to the outfit now ! 🙂

Here’s how I look with the blazer closed. It gives off more of a retro feel.Keeping it open makes it more modern in my view. 🙂

I don’t know why ,but lately I’ve been attracted a lot to cobalt blue stuff. Everytime I’m checking something out on the net I’m biased towards blue blue blue.I don’t think it’s stopping anytime soon. I did a similar colour blocking style with a cobalt blue skirt and these orange heels here . No matter what anyone says about colour blocking,I’m taking it aaall the way. It’s such an awesome way to play with colour, but then again, it can go horribly wrong!

Whatdya think about the outfit?

Over and out… 🙂

Hey,how are you holding up? 🙂

Today’s post is  about an outfit I wore last week to school.Simple.A white men’s vest, jungle green long-sleeved top and charcoal-coloured denim. You can never go wrong with a statement necklace.Plus I wore these gold-toned flats which completed the outfit so well. I’ve been on a massive bounty hunt for the perfect men’s vest for the longest time.Like literally,I was willing to do whatever it took to get it.And I finally did.Yay!

Have ya seen the hair? 🙂

My handy tote bag.Helps a lot especially with the tons of books and stuff I carry around.

That’s all I have for you for today. That and this quote I came across…

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.”
Albert Camus

Hope the week ahead only brings good things,Cheers!

Hope you’re all okay.Hope everything’s working out for you 🙂 .I want to share I look I had last week.Very simple but so classy and playful. This was it…A mustard dress top, black leggings and black flats.I accessorized with sunglasses,a chain and black sling bag. This dress top is one of those things you buy and feel so happy with. It’s one of those things that melt your heart! I love the colour and the cool pentagonal neckline.Plus ,since it’s long sleeved and warm enough, I can wear it when it’s cold without any outerwear. .When I wore the chain I thought…”This is it! This is what great fashion moments are made of! “

My week has been so hectic.Like for many other bloggers out there,It’s that time of tests and exams around the corner for me.I’ve also been having many make up classes. Our lecturers usually miss the 1st month of school and then frantically look for extra classes towards the end on the semester.WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?! They’ve ruined so many of my plans.argh…But I managed to get my hair done today, yay! I have the hair of the girls in my Nairobi Fashion Market post. This one :

I also have a side bang.Girls,I have NEVER met any haistylist who can do a perfect fringe.I had to do a side fringe because the hairstylist I went to has not mastered the art.So if you know anyone, please please suggest them to me on the comment box below! I would not like it if my human hair weave was messed up by a hairdresser who can’t do a proper fringe.

Till next post,see ya!

Hey guys.As I type this I’m listenig to Ne yo’s song ‘Forever now’ and I’m here thinking how Ne yo can do no wrong.I think he always makes great music. His songs make you put yourself in his shoes even though you’re not exactly in that kind of situation.Speaking of music,I have had the chance to interview radio presenter/Emcee/TV show host Hailey Gachoka. Here’s what she had to say…

  • Having your own radio show. That’s a dream of many! How did you get to become a radio presenter?

It is! Thank you. I actually had no idea I had the talent until I met Rae (of HomeBoyz Radio) at school (USIU). She convinced me to try out for the breakfast show at school since she was leaving. I got it and really enjoyed it, so I started looking for job opportunities in that area a few months later. I did voice tests at Capital, Hits FM (where I now work) and Kiss100. A year later I finally got feedback from Hits, and the rest, as they say is history.

  • How is the experience of hosting alongside JB (Masanduku Junior)?

It was fun. He’s hilarious and kept me in stitches for 4 hours every day, which is great. I’d never worked with a comedian before so it was a good experience for me.

  • What are some of the challenges you face as a young female presenter?

I’d have to say being taken advantage of. You really need to exert yourself and show your employer that despite being young and female, you know your worth and what you’re capable of.

  • Does it come with any perks?

Definitely, we get a lot of free stuff like complimentary tickets to events. You also get a lot of exposure to everyone in the business, so  networking is way easier.

Hailey 2

  • Anything in the works for Hailey the radio presenter? What are your future plans?

First of all I’m not big on titles…Haha. I find them limiting. Because I’m not planning to stay on radio forever. So it’s just Hailey Gachoka, that’s the brand.I have so much in the works. TV shows, an events company, an urban clothing line, and eventually opening up my own media house.

  • First 3 songs on your playlist are?

That changes a lot, but right now:

  • How would you describe your personal style?

It’s not something I can exactly categorize, but mostly urban, retro, hippy, and chic are the best words I’d use to describe my style.

  • On a scale of 1 to Coco Chanel, how much do you love fashion? What is it to you?

I’d say Coco Chanel! I remember not really caring about school and drawing sketches at any chance I got in high school. I actually wanted to go study art and fashion design at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, but my dad wouldn’t have it! So it was kind of pushed to the backseat.Fashion to me is an expression of the soul, the true essence of what a person feels about themselves.

Hailey 3

  • Love your hair colour. The cut is also amazing! Which products do you use on your hair and where do you get your hair done?

Thank you! I use Motions, Sunsilk hairspray, and TCB hair food. I actually do my own hair, but when it’s absolutely necessary I go to Ashley’s at The Mall, Westlands.

  • What’s your stand on weaves? Love or hate ‘em?

Or don’t mind ‘em?Oh lord. Ok, I personally would never be caught dead in one, but I don’t mind them if they’re done well and well maintained.

  •   Stilettos or wedges?

Depends on the situation, because I love them both. But judging from my closet, I have more wedges than stilettos.

Hailey 4

  • What are your favourite shopping spots for clothes, shoes, accessories?

I’m not really picky about shopping spots, because I shop all over. If I see something I like and I have the money, I’ll buy it.

  • Your favourite designers?

Internationally: Prada, Dolce & Gabbana , Chanel, Gucci, Jimmy Choo

Locally: Sara Karay

  • What do you think about the Kenyan fashion industry currently? Do you think we’re there or do we still need to work at it? Are we at the levels on Paris, New York, London…to mention but a few…?

I think that it has so much potential. The creativity and ingenuity is there, it’s definitely headed in the right direction. I would say we have a lot of work to do, but with the current players in the fashion industry, I have faith that in a few years, we can be considered as a fashion destination. As for being on the same level as some of the fashion capitals in the world, no. Can we get there someday? Yes, definitely.

  • Would you buy something for the label, or are you more after quality/functionality?

The old me would buy something just for the label, but now, I like to buy things that give me value for the money I’m spending.

Hailey 5

  • Which items do you never miss in your handbag?

My phone, wallet, lip gloss, hand lotion, deodorant, hairbrush, extra hairbands, handkerchief, eye drops, my mini make-up kit and some candy 🙂

  • Recount to us your worst shopping experience…

I don’t think I’ve ever had one….

  •   Your most prized fashion item is…

A pair of orange Prada wedges I got a few years back. They’re just amazing!!!:)

Heeyy!! How’s it going?

Today,I’m posting the photos I took of the runway shows on Saturday.I’ll post my favourite looks. It’s going to be a flood of photos,so get ready! 🙂

The first show was by Zaramu House of designs. This was mostly an African-inspired collection whose main feature was maxi dresses in an array of styles, silhouettes and print. There were some ankara pieces including a pant suit and dresses that varied in length and fit. This is definitely a collection for the elegant fashionista.

The second collection was by Honour My Curves.Like the name suggests, this collection is made with for the more curvier woman in mind.It was characterized by a mixture of bold and soft colours and had pieces that you can wear to the office,to dinner,to lunch or to an event like Nairobi Fashion Market! It has a certain flirtiness and fierceness to it.

The third collection was Afro Street Collection.Where do I even start? I loved this collection. There was also a central theme, which was ankara. The designs were beautiful and featured a lot of vibrant colours. Orange seems to be the colour in every piece. The collection ranged from skater skirts to pants and blazers, chiffon maxi dresses to chiffon tops and maxi skirts.Warning…Not for the faint hearted, haha! 😀

The next collection was from New York designer,Windows. The collection was mainly characterized by sheath dresses, shift dresses with gorgeous prints like dots, lines, flowers. The colours are both bright and toned-down neutral colours.Simple and chic are the words I use to describe this collection.I love it because it symbolizes the everyday Nairobi woman.

The last designer I will feature is Sheena C. The collection mainly consisted of evening dresses in gold tones, light blue, black and whites. From mermaid style dresses to ballgowns and short bodycon dresses, this collection was the real deal.It also had this ethereal feel to it that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.The fabrics were also quite amazing.Whether princess, diva or African queen, there’s something for everyone! 🙂
